Synopsis

PARKDALE, Toronto – A young couple renovating a former boarding house rent their basement apartment to an ex-convict returning to the place he once lived. As the ex-convict (David Ferry) struggles to reintegrate himself into a changed community, he develops an unusual bond with the young woman (Amy Rutherford) that draws him into conflict with her partner (Dusan Dukic). In the struggle between the need for sanctuary and the right to ownership, an act of unexpected violence confronts them all with their own morality. Presented in a storefront space on Queen West (Simone Interiors), this intimate drama explores how our interactions with strangers define who we are. (darkhorsetheatre.ca)
