Synopsis

For everyone who’s ever fallen in love and ended up feeling like a cake left out in the rain, MacArthur Park Suite: A Disco Ballet is a fabulous theatrical ballet/jazz/modern dance fantasia on love and heartbreak set to the pounding music of Donna Summer. Originally performed to standing ovations at Buddies in Bad Times’ Rhubarb Festival, MacArthur Park Suite: A Disco Ballet comes to SummerWorks in a newly expanded, two-part form complete with tambourines, tutus…and sweet green icing, flowing down.

MACARTHUR PARK SUITE is set in the 1970s, when euphoric disco ecstasy reigns supreme. The tail end of a broken romance frames a flashback: amongst friends, two hearts come together as sequins, bright lights, and lamé shine while cocaine flies in the air like snow. Time stops for their one of a kind love, before it falls apart in a dramatic and passionate pas de deux.

I FEEL LOVE: REFLECTIONS ON LOVE, LUST, AND LONGING is an introspective and personal meditation on love and its implications by the members of the company as they take a peek inside each other’s hearts: is love the same for everyone? What does it truly mean to feel love? (summerworks.ca)
