barking birds theatre was established in November 2010 by artistic directors Elsbeth McCall and Tanya Rintoul. Upon graduating from the Humber College Theatre performance program McCall and Rintoul were inspired to create their own work from the foundation of their physical and devised theatre training and love of character driven storytelling. They are motivated by the stories of people from all time and place bringing them together as fragments from the neighborhoods, city, and world in which we live. They aim to create theatre that speaks to each individual and their main focus is the study of humanity.  Their work engages audiences in the experience of questioning life; examining the thoughts and desires we have each day.
