Tango Co., established in 2005, is a professional theatre company devoted to bringing fresh narrative drama of the highest calibre to Toronto audiences. To complement this mission, we’re committed to providing high-quality professional opportunities to the finest actors, directors, and designers in the country. We place a particular emphasis on engaging “next generation” (under-35) artists and audiences.
We’re interested in theatre that tells great stories, theatre that’s curious about character, that’s engaged with the most urgent questions about living and loving and being in the world.
We seek to mine the full range of emotional, philosophical, and poetic possibilities of narrative and the playwright’s voice—to provide for our audience sometimes an experience of wonder and delight, sometimes an experience of catharsis and renewal.
