Synopsis
Petroleum is an hommage to self-loathing narcissism; a celebration of our violent DNA; a unique basic poem; a social dance between pain and pleasure.
Lewis’s interest in the concept of general effect comes from her implication in the marching arts. The competing shows are evaluated for their emotional, visual and intellectual effects. While we do not believe in the idea of grading a piece of art, we wonder how the goal of effectiveness in our communication translates to our audience. We’re not ashamed to say that we hope to offer a solid, moving, memorable show. (fringetoronto.com)
