Synopsis
In Depression-era St. Louis, the aspiring poet Tom Wingfield lives with his eccentric and critical mother, Amanda, and his troubled sister, Laura, who struggles with overwhelming social anxiety and the lingering physical effects of a chronic childhood illness. Tom, as narrator, leads the audience through his recollections of the family’s increasingly strained coexistence and their fateful visit from a “gentleman caller.” (thaumatropetheatre.com)
