Synopsis

Fusing traditional Arabic melodies with slapstick comedy, this narrative centres on “Hag Energy”—the visionary power of older women of colour. When 78-year-old Auntie Ooka miraculously becomes pregnant and speaks only in divine gibberish, the duo is catapulted from a Toronto shawarma shop to the River Jordan. It’s a surreal, musical masterclass in using radical imagination to survive a world gone mad. (fringetoronto.com)
