Synopsis
The double bill, made up of Umnikelo (Offering) and Dominion is a hybrid of the contemporary African signature embedded in … Xhosa tradition, creating a fresh African movement aesthetic. Umneliko celebrates our cultures while Dominion propels us into a space of confinement, to self-realize the power we each possess to lead or destroy. And in that process of self-introspection we are left with a work of multiple layers, a kaleidoscope of images both brutal and real. At the end we are left with the question – ‘who is power?’ (Program notes)
