Synopsis
Nor the Cavaliers Who Come With Us is a brutal, comic love story about the conquest of Mexico 1519 to the present. Hernan Cortes arrives in the New World looking for gold. He is received with bits of jade, quetzel feathers, and a woman, ‘La Malinche’ – together they will choose the destiny of the Americas. In their meeting place, our hero, a tourist with a typewriter, searches for an intelligent source of evil in the world. Apprenticed to a mysterious horse doctor, he finds himself entangled in the true story of bullfights, politics and the untimely birth of the child of the New World. The Cavaliers is both the story of one traveler’s personal confrontation with the forces of history – and a theatrical experience that seeks to extend and transform the vocabulary of theatre.
