Synopsis
Sometimes it’s easy to forget: the power of the sea when you are safe on dry land; that no matter our station at present we will all face the same end; that most of what we know about our past is really just storytelling. In this world premiere, UnSpun Theatre constructs a performance installation to tell the story of The HMS Speedy, a schooner that sank in our very own Lake Ontario some 200 years ago, and the lives, secrets and injustices that went down with it. In this strange, yet true, story of shipwreck, murder and magic, you’ll be immersed in a surprising emblem of contemporary Toronto, and a history you didn’t even know it had. (harbourfrontcentre.com)
