Synopsis

Vice becomes virtue in Molière’s timeless satire of religious hypocrisy – or is it the other way around? Falling under the spell of sly con artist Tartuffe, wealthy bourgeois Orgon risks his estate and his family to harbour the pious-seeming vagabond; but when their guest finally reveals his true colours, the household is thrown into chaos. Chris Abraham’s production presents Molière’s dark comedy through a contemporary lens, deftly exploring how truth becomes blurred in the quest for power. (canadianstage.com)
