Synopsis
Sharpeville, South Africa: 1984. Duma Kumalo, a young black man, is wrongfully convicted of murder and sentenced to die. After 4 years on death row, just 15 hours before he is to be hanged, the state grants him a stay of execution. Based on Duma’s own testimony and his real-life friendship with playwright/director Yaël Farber, He Left Quietly finds grace and humanity inside this harrowing tale of injustice.
After a wildly successful run at the Yale Cabaret in February 2014, Leora Morris directs a new, all-Canadian cast in this beautiful work. (summerworks.ca)
