Synopsis

This unforgettable one-woman show weaves together the journeys of two women, a grandmother and her granddaughter, through post-millennium Toronto and Second World War India. Framed by the story of Malobee, an Indian-born Canadian immigrant, and her decision to marry with her deceased grandmother’s blessing but not her physical presence, Letters to my Grandma intertwines Malobee’s experiences as a recent immigrant with her Grandma’s struggles to survive alone with her newborn child through the turmoil of war.
